What is the Classis Home Missions
Committee?
Our Vision
The Classis Home Missions Committee
envisions vibrant, missional faith
communities following Jesus.

Our Purpose
Our purpose is to mobilize and energize
the gifts and resources of all members
of the 15 congregations of Classis for
holistic evangelism and discipleship.

Our Goals
Our goal is to achieve measurable
improvements in "deep-rootedness" in 8
of the 15 congregations in the next three
years.

A second goal is to have 300 residents
of southeast Grand Rapids come to a
saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and
join our congregations in the next three
years.

What are the projects or working
groups of the Classis Home
Missions Committee?
Church Development
This working group promotes holistic
discipleship and the development of
established and new churches through
strategic planning, education, and
training.

Evangelism
This working group identifies and
develops holistic evangelism strategies
for use by the congregations of Classis.

Ministry Grants
This working group advances
evangelistic ministry in southeast Grand
Rapids by making recommendations to
Classis for the disbursement of Classis
grant funds to
churches and parachurch
ministries. This group also maintains
contact with grantees and
educates
Classis about these ministries.

What do members of the Classis
Home Missions Committee do?
  1. Think about mission and
    ministry.
  2. Work with a few others to
    develop initiatives in one of
    three working groups (see the
    middle panel)
  3. Attend bi-monthly meetings to
    share ideas and network with
    representatives of other
    congregations.
  4. Report to or participate in
    mission, ministry, or outreach
    committees or teams in your
    congregation.
  5. Communicate mission and
    ministry opportunities to your
    congregation.
  6. Communicate mission and
    ministry opportunities to the
    Classis Home Missions
    Committee.
